November 2, 2007. My first buck!

Muzzle season 2005, had a tree marked to climb, me and some friends were getting ready outside the trucks, it's 4:50am on a saturday. When a vehicle with headlights beaming, comes onto the property and continues to go past us and travels to the location I was planning to hunt. My friends said to wait till light before approaching the hunter. At 7:15am, with a loud thunder of a muzzleloader, I knew that guy had a deer. At 9:45am, with discuss, I climbed down and went to my truck and withing a few minutes that trespasser came by and showed me the buck he had taken. The eight point I had been tracking since 2004, so i took his license plate number and reported him to the authorities. And went home.

Small game hunting, scouting and more scouting. Prepare for turkey season.

Tombstone, Oh Brother, Where Art Thou!, All of John Wayne movies, and Three Stooges.

Married, with two daughters and one son, and three grandsons. Love to spend time with my family, golf, fish, hunt and camping. I am a volunteer firefighter.

Began hunting again in 2003 and shot my first deer, a doe. When I was a young boy I went hunting with my dad and uncles but didn't shoot anything. From 2004 to 2006, I scouted alot of land that was promising but didn't get to shoot a buck or doe. Time wasn't on my side. My first buck taken was on November 2, 2007. A beautiful ten point with a score of 135 B&C. I am proud of this because I wasn't planning to hunt until a friend called and asked me to go to an area I wasn't familiar with. He put me in an area and after getting up a tree and being in the tree ten minutes, this buck came out, about 25 to 30 yards in front of me. I took the shot, he ran about 40 yards and now he is mounted on my wall.

Scent Block clothing with Mossy Oak Style. Extinguisher from Illusion Systems deer call. Primos small and large Bleat doe calls.

Safety is priority! Hunt with the old guys and learn as much stuff as you can. Scout, scout and more scouting. Learn everything about deer behavior. Know where they feed, drink and sleep. Also use scents to cover yourself, whether you are hunting or scouting. Never shoot a running deer.
