| Most Memorable Hunt |
The 2007 season! The very first day of the shotgun season I witnessed something I have never seen in the wild before. Just after dawn I heard some grunting but couldnt figure out where it was coming from. A few seconds later I saw a doe running full bore across the field straight towards the woods I was hunting in. Right behind the doe was a small 8 point buck followed by the biggest 10 point buck I have ever seen in my life. The three deer crashed into the woods then turned and ran striaght back out and across the field. At that point I thought that was the last time I would ever see that buck again. A few minute's later they came running back toward me again but this time headed toward the back of the property and a guy that was hunting back there took a running shot at them. The shot forced them back toward me and this time they stopped 15 to 20 yards from the tree stand that I was going to sit in but I had changed my mind that morning and sat in a different stand. The 2 bucks began to fight and after a minute or so 2 more small bucks came out of the woods and went toward the doe. The big boy didnt like that and took off chasing the dow again. This time they ran past me at about 60 to 80 yards and crashed into the front part of the woods and I never saw them after that. I contemplated taking a running shot at the big buck but I have never taken a shot like that and didnt feel comfortable doing that. Even though I didnt get that big buck I feel privileged to have had the opportunity to witness that awesome event and that magnificent animal. There's always next year! |
| Hunting Nightmare |
I was hunting on the edge of the woods overlooking a field where deer had been crossing. It was lightly raining that day and I didnt think I would have any luck. About and hour from dark I saw a doe come out of the bedding area and came across the field straight to me. I hesitated at first to see if a buck would come out after her but I never saw a buck so at about 15 yards I drew my bow and shot the doe. The shot ended up being a bad one because when I drew my bow the doe heard me and stopped behind some brush. I couldnt hold the bow anymore so I released and the arrow deflected off some brush and hit the doe in the neck. After the doe ran off into the woods I stood up to see where she had gone. I had my bow sitting on the ground and when I turned around a HUGE 8 point buck came running across the field following the path the doe had taken and stopped 15 yards from me. I stood there completely frozen and helpless. The buck took a few steps toward me looking side to side trying to figure out what I was and then he snorted and ran off. I was so mad at myself for not waiting when I saw the doe come out. By the way I never found the doe either! |

| About Me |
I love the outdoors and try to spend as much time outside fishing or hunting as possible. My love for the outdoors has affected my life so much that I even work outdoors. I cant imagine having an office job where I would be stuck inside. |
| Hunting Background |
I have been hunting as long as I can remember but my dad was the person who inspired me to enjoy the outdoors and what God has created for us. In 2001 I was 21 and got my first buck and I have been hooked ever since! |
