Not necessarily. Usually when you shoot a deer they dont go very far from where you shot them and that is why you want to stay at your stand give them some time and not make any noise. Usually they dont even know what just happened and run away but then they start to slow down and hide because they are tired and hurt. If there is a creek or water around they will often go to water to help clot the bleeding and lose their scent trail. Alot of times if you shoot a deer with a bow they dont even hear it and they will only run a few yards and you can watch where they fall. It is also good to wait even if you see a deer go down to make sure they are dead. My dad shot a buck one time and it bedded down right in front of him and he waited awhile and it still didnt die so he had to shoot it again and when we tracked it, it was still alive when we found it and he had to shoot it again. Talk to you later

Hey I found that video with the buck locked up with the dead deer. It is under deer videos on the videos page. It is just labeled "deer". Check it out.
