MX-450 monopod Review
DATE: 08/08/2007 16:55:19 / MOOD: Excited
Ok as you know from the posting I had picked up a cheap monopod from Wally-world (wal-mart) and was going to take it out and give it a run through to see if it was worth buying.. let me start by saying ok the price was a whopping 20.00 for a 4 secion aluminum mono. it came with the hiking staff ball, plastic, and a "V" also in plastic with a light duty rubber coating on the inside. as we know the final section or the end that hits the ground is one of the most important pieces, if its not sturdy enough you wobble. well this one is a full 1/2 inch diameter, plenty strong.. for a hiking stick its a bit unweildy due to the flip clamp system catching high grasses, but not too bad. as a sitting or standing monopod rest for the rifles, I think you would not find a better one for the price tag!! light, sturdy, inexpensive, colapses down to you could put it into a game bag or hang off your belt with no troubles... and another thing the thing would not colapse even when the sections were wet and i was pushing hard to make it colapse with the rifle on it.. stayed right where i wanted it to be!!
so if you are in the market for a cheap monopod go to wally world drop a 20 dollar bill and you wont be sorry!!
oh and before you all come back with a boat oar looking to club me, they are NOT in the hunting section, but hidden in the camera and film section of wally world!! if you ask the hunting dep. they will tell you they dont carry them!! hit up the camera department, they got them and boy do they work!

DATE: 07/28/2007 15:36:45 / MOOD: Excited
well i forced the issue here, working on my bike, doing the fork seals, along with rear brakes and the front skin all in one shot, all i got to say is someone stole my body and left me this broken one!! man i used to be able to rebuild a bike, swap tires by hand mind you and then anything else i wanted to do.. man i get the tire on the rim i gotta sit down.. get the forks done, sit down.. i know it is from being down almost two years, but my goodness it snuck up on me here.. i was sitting on a little scooter dolly (10 or so inch high stool with wheels) and dropped something, so i bend forward to get it and this spare tire someone gave me got it the way!! you just dont realize how out of shape you get till its already there!! by hunting season i should be back to a close semblance of what i was, but untill then.....

other hobby-job
DATE: 07/27/2007 16:28:06 / MOOD: Disappointed
well for those who dont know I restore and ride old motorcycles, my personal bike a 1991 yamaha fj1200 has been by far the best bike for maintenance i have ever owned.. so it comes time here for me to do some work to the ol girl, needs a front skin (tire for those who dont speak bike) and the fork seals are gonna be swapped out also, well the little clips that hold the oil seals into the forks have rotted themselves into the forks!! so what was a 2 hour job is now stretched into a tomarrow morning job due to the bike shops local are closed for the night.. talk about bumm me out and i was wanting to ride tomarrow too

youth day 2007
DATE: 07/15/2007 11:25:02 / MOOD: Excited
Well yesterday I took the kids to the first youth day of the season.. for those who dont know what youth days are, it is a event usually put on by sportsmans clubs to get the younger generations a chance to get out and learn something about "our" sport. this yea i took my daughter Kaylas boyriend alex with us.. the boy is 18 and has never held a firearm in his life. so this was going to be good, he didnt show any aprehention in getting up there, and he impressed me with a few things. first "station" was the skeet shooting. 4 out of 5 clays went poof! the kid is a natural!! well after a good days run through we all had a great time, from the archery to the black powder to the skeet, the 22 rifles the high powered rifle to the pistols.. had a Pa game warden there showing some of the critters we have running around in our woods here as well.. personally i had a great time out with the kids.. especially when my daughter outshot her BF with the .45 pistol.. and even more when my son PJ outshot Kayla with the bow!! i tossed some photos up of the day and already planning for the next one!! oh and Mad-River will like this one.. walking from the one station to the next, Itripped on my shoe lace, face first into the ground!! the only casulty of the day.. hahahhah can dress me up but cant take me nowhere.

it lives
DATE: 06/16/2007 19:48:32 / MOOD: Neutral
well after doing the carbs and the fuse block, and the brakes all around, i got the chance to see if this 28 year old ten years sitting bike would fire.. well it does and it runs, some popping and sputtering at first of course. needs ran to blow the junk out of it, seafoam the thing and should be good to go. tomarrow is the oil change and the mid-final drive lube change, yeah it is a shaft drive.. then it needs mirrors and heck of a bath. probably gonna need fork seals but i think i can sneak that past the inspection for this year for the owner.. so next is gonna be pictures

well since i was waiting around for parts to be delivered I decided to do some reloading.. loaded up a box of .243s with nosler 100grain spire points for deer hunting. got it backed with 40 grains of H414 powder chronoed at around 2900fps... think this should be good to go for deer hunting. and things just keep rolling along
